UNDER AN IRISH MOON

Tribute show to the music from Ireland

7 December - 27 January 2007

The Irish have historically been known as the great migrators, they exported their people, their beer, their whisky, their good nature all over the world, but most of all they exported their music. Their traditional songs and instruments like the fiddle and the pennywhistle have survived into the 21st century and still generate that mystical aura around those beautiful melodies. For such a small little country, they have produced music that has reached people all over the world.

Since the 60’s, some legendary acts have come out of Ireland: Riverdance, U2, The Corrs, Van Morisson, The Commitments, The Cranberries, Chris de Burgh,The Chieftains, Bob Geldof, Sinead O’Connor, Ronan Keating, Thin Lizzy and many more will be paid tribute to in this musical journey.
Ireland is a land of passion where people wear their heart on their sleeves.

Their music expresses that fiery passion for life, that tangible energy expressed in happiness, sadness or anger, from the pub songs to the super groups

Marc Sampson's MISSING LINKS

  MISSING LINKS

R-EVOLUTIONARY COMEDY

BY MARC SAMPSON

1 FEBRUARY - 3 MARCH 2007

Inspired by a visit to the Sterkfontein caves, Sampson contemplates a South African future for his kids by looking back at the very origins of the human family - all the way from the great apes to George Bush. He takes us on a rollercoaster taxi-ride through 3 billion years of evolution: from microbes to man via Little Foot, Mrs Ples and a lot of monkeying about.

Don't miss this unique opportunity to see some revolutionary stand-up comedy at the very place where understanding evolution began. A laugh-a-minute hour with one man and a microphone that will make you see our ancestors - and our present - in a whole new light.

"Fantastic - both hilarious and heartfelt" - Mail & Guardian

"Yes, he is funny; he just can't help himself" - Argus Tonight

"...veels te veel pret om jou aan 'n geskiedenisles te laat dink" - Die Beeld

"Witty and hilarious" - Weekend Argus

"Like watching a kid in a McDonald's playpen...passionate" - Cape Times
